Wisdom’s Call to All

ree

Hello, everyone, and welcome to Day Eight of us reading through the book of Proverbs. What an honour to be sharing the word of God with you today. My name is Pastor Hazel Chinake, based in Swindon, and let’s just dive into chapter eight and see what the Lord is telling us today. Amen.

In the book of Proverbs 8, we hear wisdom being described as a person. Verse 3 says: “She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entrance of the doors: To you, O men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of men.” This scripture reveals to us that wisdom is for all. There is no special group of people God has selected to be wise. Wisdom is calling to us all, but we must long for it, seek it, and desire it for it to become part of us.

Verse 10 says: “Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.” Hallelujah. Here, wisdom says: Receive my instruction, not the things of this world. Seek me, not the things that will perish, for wisdom will sustain you.

Verse 17 is powerful: “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.” That word diligently is key. When we seek wisdom diligently, God grants us what we need to sustain ourselves. Hallelujah!

This takes me to one of my favourite scriptures, Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” When we talk of wisdom, we talk of Christ; when we talk of Christ, we talk of wisdom. They are intertwined because wisdom comes from above.

Think of Solomon in 1 Kings, he asked God for wisdom, and God was so pleased that He gave him not only wisdom, but also riches and honour. Why? Because Solomon prioritised wisdom above material things.

My message today is this: seek the Lord, seek the things that are above, and everything else you need will be added to you. Hallelujah.

Verse 30 of Proverbs 8 says: “Then I was beside Him, as a master craftsman.” This shows that when God created the heavens and the earth, wisdom was right there beside Him. When you walk in wisdom, you also walk in creativity and excellence. At your workplace, in your family, wherever you are, wisdom gives you ideas, solutions, and insight that others cannot see.

So, children of God, rather than always going before God with a list, “Lord, give me a car, give me a house, give me money”, pray for wisdom. Because when you seek wisdom, when you seek the Lord, He will add everything else to you. The things above will sustain you; the things of this world will pass away.

Amen. Thank you so much for allowing me to share the Word of God with you today. I pray it has blessed you. God bless you and have a lovely day.
