We Are Positioned by Grace, Empowered by Courage

There’s a beautiful mystery in the way God works.
Sometimes, we see His hand so clearly, doors open, opportunities appear, and people are placed in our lives at just the right time.
We stand in awe, whispering,
“The finger of God is all over this.”
But here’s what we often miss:
God’s providence positions us, but courage empowers us to move.
We see this in Esther's story.
Esther was a young Jewish woman who unexpectedly became queen of Persia. She didn’t seek the spotlight, but found herself in a position of influence at a critical time. When her people were threatened, she had to risk her life to speak up to the king. Her courage helped save an entire nation.
She didn’t choose her position in the palace. She didn’t orchestrate her favour. She was positioned by God’s providence.
But her courage was required when the moment came to speak, risk, and act.
Mordecai didn’t tell her to stay quiet and trust God would handle it alone. He challenged her:
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)
God had opened the door.
Now it was Esther’s turn to walk through it.
Providence Doesn’t Cancel Courage
Sometimes we wait for God to make the first move, not realising He already has.
He’s arranged the connections.
He’s positioned the opportunity.
He’s stirred the passion.
But now?
It’s your move.
It’s your courage that activates the calling.
It’s your faith that partners with His provision.
Even Jesus invited participation in miracles:
“Stretch out your hand.”
“Take up your mat and walk.”
“Go and wash.”
Divine providence isn’t passive. It invites our obedience, our courage, our resolve.
Reflection: Where Are You Positioned?
What doors has God already opened in your life?
What relationships, opportunities, or platforms has He entrusted to you?
And what’s the next step of courage He’s nudging you to take?
Maybe it’s speaking up.
Maybe it’s stepping out.
Maybe it’s staying the course when it’s easier to quit.
Whatever it is, He’s positioned you. But courage will propel you.
You don’t rise alone.
And you were never meant to.
