Hi everyone, and welcome to Wisdom September! I’m Caroline, and today we continue our journey through the book of Proverbs. We’re in Chapter 2 today, and my friend, Sister Tressan, will be sharing a reflection with us.
Reflection from Sister Tressan
Hi, family of God! I hope you’re all doing well. It is such a privilege to share with you on this 30-day journey through Proverbs. Today, I’ll be reflecting on Proverbs chapter 2.
I encourage you to read the whole chapter, but I’ll focus on a few key verses.
The chapter is titled “The Value of Wisdom.” Verse 4 says:
“If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
Here’s what stands out to me:
1. Wisdom Must Be Sought
Wisdom is like silver or a hidden treasure; it’s available, but not always easy to see. It requires effort and intentional pursuit. That’s exactly what we’re doing on this journey: setting aside time to seek God’s wisdom.
2. God’s Wisdom is Valuable
The verse continues: “…then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” The fear of the Lord is a reverent acknowledgement that God knows more than we do. When we submit to His wisdom, we make room for growth, understanding, and transformation.
3. Wisdom Protects and Guides
Verse 12 tells us that wisdom delivers us from evil and from those who speak perverse things, and verse 20 shows that it helps us walk in goodness and stay on the path of righteousness. God’s wisdom protects us, guides us, and brings goodness into our lives.
A Prayer for Wisdom
Dear Lord, thank You for Your wise words. We pray for Your wisdom to guide us, protect us, and help us walk in righteousness. Forgive us when we rely on our own understanding instead of Yours. Holy Spirit, help us remain in Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thank you, family of God! Let’s continue this journey together, seeking God’s wisdom, knowing it is valuable, good, and protective.
A huge thank you to Sister Tressan for sharing such rich insight from Proverbs 2.
Join us tomorrow as we continue with Proverbs 3. Remember: a proverb a day keeps foolishness away! Let’s rise and reclaim wisdom together. Have a blessed day!
