The Blessing of True Fellowship

ree

Yesterday was a reminder of how beautiful godly relationships can be. I travelled, in the middle of a busy seven-day work stretch, to celebrate the birthday of someone I call my younger sister. She isn’t a sister by blood, but by heart. We met in church, and over the years, her family has become such a blessing in my life. Truly, she is like the younger sister I never had.

Moments like these remind me that family isn’t only about genetics, it’s also about the bonds God knits together through love, faith, and shared life. There’s something powerful about the way God places people in our path to walk alongside us, to strengthen us, to laugh with us in joy, and to hold us up in difficult seasons.

The psalmist captures this when he says, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity” (Psalm 133:1). And Proverbs adds, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity” (Proverbs 17:17).

True friendship and fellowship are expressions of God’s love. They reflect His heart for unity and community, where we are not just individuals, but members of a family He has carefully put together. These relationships are worth celebrating, nurturing, and honouring.

Today, I encourage you to pause and give thanks for the people in your life who feel like family, even if they aren’t related by blood. Celebrate them, pray for them, and let them know how much they mean to you. In doing so, you will not only strengthen the bond but also bring joy to the heart of God, who delights when His children dwell in love and unity.
