Minding My Own Business

There are days when you’re just minding your own business.
Running errands. Checking off your list.
Doing your best to stay in your lane and stay afloat.
That’s where Saul was.
Not chasing destiny.
Not preparing for leadership.
Just looking for his father’s lost donkeys
An exhausting, frustrating task.
And yet, while he was busy with the ordinary,
God had already set something divine in motion.
In this part of the story, the people of Israel had asked for a king, and God chose a man named Saul, not because of what he had accomplished,
But because of what God saw in him.
When the prophet Samuel met Saul, he didn’t give a pep talk.
He didn’t lay out a five-year plan.
He did this:
“Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, ‘Has not the Lord anointed you ruler over his inheritance?’”
1 Samuel 10:1
Before Saul led, before anyone saw his potential
God called him.
God anointed him.
Sometimes, God pours purpose into our lives when we least expect it.
Not after we’re promoted, but while we’re still figuring it out.
Not when we feel spiritual, but when we’re tired and just trying to get through the day.
If you’re feeling small, overlooked, or caught in the middle of something that doesn’t seem meaningful! Don’t despise it.
God knows how to find you while you’re minding your own business.
Today’s Reflection:
• What if your current season is not random, but God’s setup?
• Are you willing to be anointed, even if you don’t feel “ready”?
• Can you trust that God is working while you’re just walking?
Prayer:
Dear Father, we are not chasing titles or trying to impress; we are been faithful.
But if you’re calling us in the middle of the ordinary, we are listening.
Thank you that You see what we cannot see
Thank you for choosing us, even before we feel ready.
Pour your oil over our lives
Lead us one step at a time.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Just because it feels ordinary doesn’t mean it’s empty.
God anoints people right in the middle of the mundane.
Even while you’re minding your own business…
He’s minding your purpose.
