Living with Intention

ree

Proverbs 23 is full of practical wisdom:

• Don’t overindulge in food or drink.

• Don’t chase after riches that quickly fly away.

• Avoid bad company.

• Guard your heart.

Each of these warnings is a call to intentional living. They remind us not to drift through life, but to be mindful of our choices.

The Apostle Paul echoes this in Ephesians 5:15-17:

“Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

As I have matured, I’ve learned to choose peace over drama. I no longer let everything and everyone have access to my life. I am more intentional about protecting my joy, guarding my peace, and seeking God’s will above all else.

This hasn’t come easily. Life has thrown its share of pain my way. In the past, I tried to drown out pain with distractions, but God has been teaching me to sit with it, invite Him into it, and discover His presence in the quiet places. Out of those seasons, I’ve found clarity, strength, and wisdom.

Proverbs warns us about careless living. Ephesians calls us to live purposefully, redeeming the time, and aligning ourselves with God’s will. That is the true posture of wisdom, not drifting, but living on purpose.

Reflection Questions

• Are you living intentionally, or just drifting?

• What distractions or drama might you need to step away from to protect your peace?

• Where is God inviting you to live with more purpose?

Prayer

Everlasting Father, King of Glory, thank you for reminding us that wisdom is not just about avoiding mistakes, but about choosing to live with intention, peace, and purpose. Teach us to guard our hearts, to say no to distractions, and to say yes to Your presence. Fill us with discernment in our decisions, discipline in our habits, and peace in our relationships. May our lives reflect Your will, our words bring life, and our choices honour You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
