Let Go to Grow! The Cost of Becoming

We all say we want to grow.
We crave healing, wholeness, and elevation.
We want to reclaim our voice, our identity, our purpose.
But there’s something most people won’t tell you:
Becoming comes at a cost.
And that cost is letting go.
You can’t rise while dragging the past behind you.
You can’t reclaim your future while clinging to what comforted you in survival.
And you absolutely cannot grow if you’re unwilling to surrender who you’ve outgrown.
“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”
John 12:24
That’s not just a Scripture, it’s a strategy.
If you want to grow, you must release what’s no longer meant to go with you.
What You Might Be Holding
Letting go isn’t just about leaving something behind; it’s about identifying what’s been limiting you.
It could be:
• The need to be chosen
• The image you built to protect yourself
• A toxic love you tried to redeem
• Old pain that still defines how you love, pray, or trust
• A version of yourself that helped you survive, but can’t help you become
Whatever it is, if you want to grow, it can’t go with you.
Growth Always Demands Release
We often want elevation but resist the emptying that must come first.
We want what’s next without releasing what was.
But growth doesn’t happen in cluttered soil.
You must make room.
Some things aren’t sinful! Just expired.
They’re not evil, they’re just not yours anymore.
The Cost of Becoming
Becoming doesn’t come wrapped in comfort.
It’s wrapped in fire.
It will challenge your beliefs about yourself, others, and even God.
It will press you to the point of transformation, and you can’t fake your way through it.
But here’s the beauty:
Every time you lay something down, God plants something deeper.
Something real.
Something lasting.
Let Me Walk With You
I’ve lived this tension.
I’ve tried to carry dead seasons into new ones.
I’ve prayed for resurrection in places God called me to release.
But the moment I let go, I grew.
Not instantly. Not painlessly.
But beautifully.
And it changed everything.
So if you’re ready, I’ll walk with you.
Not as someone who has arrived, but as someone who is still becoming.
Let go. Grow. Reclaim.
You’re not burying potential.
You’re making room for it.
This is the cost of becoming.
And it’s worth every single step.
