Joy Will Come in the Morning

Life has a way of making us look around and wonder why those who do wrong seem to be prospering. Maybe you’ve asked yourself, “Why does it look like they are winning while I’m struggling to do the right thing?”
Psalm 37:1–3 speaks directly to that question:
“Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.”
God’s Word reminds us that the prosperity of the wicked is temporary. We are not called to compete with them, but to trust in the Lord and continue doing what is good. Our focus should not be on their success but on God’s faithfulness.
The Gift of Friendship
As we wait on God’s timing, He often strengthens us through the people He has placed in our lives. Recently, I reconnected with a dear friend who had been on my heart for a while. That conversation reminded me of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10:
“Two are better than one… for if they fall, one will lift his companion.”
True friends are a gift from God. They pray for us, lift us when we are weary, and remind us that we are not walking alone. If you have such friends, treasure them. They are part of God’s provision for you in difficult seasons.
The Value of Affliction
But what about when the struggle feels personal, when the weight of affliction is heavy on your shoulders? The Apostle Paul gives us this perspective in 2 Corinthians 4:17:
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
Your trials are not wasted. Even in your pain, God is refining you, shaping you into a vessel that He can use for His glory. What feels overwhelming now is temporary, and it is working for your eternal good.
A Word From Experience
And let me say this not just as a preacher but as someone who has lived it: I know what it means to walk through testing times. I know what it feels like when the night seems endless. But I also know this joy will come in the morning, and you will laugh again.
So hold on. Don’t fret over the wicked. Treasure the friends God has placed around you. And remember that your afflictions are temporary. God is working, even now, and your laughter is on the way.
