He Rescues Me From the Pit

There’s a pit you don’t talk about.
It might be depression.
It might be betrayal.
It might be the aftershock of abuse, or the silence of a broken heart.
I know that pit. I’ve been in it.
The kind of place where it feels like your soul is barely breathing, buried under pain, shame, or disappointment.
And yet the words of God, written by the Psalmist, speak directly into that dark space:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits—
Who forgives all your sins,
heals all your diseases,
redeems your life from the pit,
and crowns you with love and compassion.”
Psalm 103: 2–4
He redeems your life from the pit!
God doesn’t leave you there.
That’s not who He is.
He sees you. He weeps with you. And then, He reaches for you.
Because pits are not places to stay. They’re places where resurrection begins.
You might feel like your strength is gone.
But the God who knit you together can put you back together.
The One who crowned you before the pain…will crown you again with love and compassion.
Rise & Reclaim is the sound of women coming out of the pit.
It’s a whisper at first. A stirring. A breath.
Then it becomes a voice.
Then a movement.
We don’t climb our way out on our own.
We are rescued by God.
And when we rise, we do so not just for ourselves, but for the women behind us.
We rise to reclaim everything the pit tried to bury: our identity, our voice, our purpose.
Reflection Questions:
• What is the “pit” you feel God is rescuing you from in this season?
• What benefits (Psalm 103) have you seen in your life, even if only in small ways?
• What would it mean for you to bless the Lord right where you are?
Take a few minutes today to reflect, write, and speak the truth over your soul.
