From Lame to Loved: A Seat at the King's Table

Sometimes life drops us.

Not because we deserved it. Not because we were careless. But because something shattered around us, we got caught in the fall.

That was Mephibosheth’s story. He was just a child when the news of his father Jonathan’s death came. In the rush of panic, his nurse fled with him and dropped him.

That fall left him wounded, not just physically, but emotionally and socially.

Years passed. The wounds became part of his identity. He never imagined the king would remember him, forgotten, hidden, and likely ashamed.

But grace has a long reach. Because of a covenant with Jonathan, David sought Mephibosheth out not to shame or pity him but to restore him.

Mephibosheth was brought into the palace and given a seat at the king’s table, like one of the king’s sons.

Maybe life has dropped you, too. Through grief, betrayal, disappointment, or abuse, you now feel disqualified. Lame in a way no one else can see.

But God hasn’t forgotten you. There’s still a seat for you, not at the table of shame, but at the table of restoration.

You’re not disqualified from His goodness. You’re invited into His grace.

Reflection

- Where have you felt 'dropped' in life?

- What identity have you carried from that fall?

- Can you believe there's still a place set for you?

Prayer

God, thank You for my story not ending with the fall.

You see where I’ve been wounded and still make room for me at your table.

Help me receive Your grace, walk in Your restoration, and live like I belong.

Amen.
