Forget the Former Things

As August draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on this journey of Morning Dew. Thirty-one days of seeking God’s face at the start of each day, and I can truly say He has been faithful. Through His word, His whispers, and His daily mercies, He has refreshed and renewed us.
But something is stirring in my spirit today: the reminder to let go of the past. How easy it is to hold on to yesterday’s disappointments, fears, or even successes. Sometimes we get so caught up in what has been that we lose sight of what God is unfolding right before us.
God’s call is simple yet powerful: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” He doesn’t want us to miss the fresh work He is birthing because we are still rehearsing yesterday’s chapters.
This month has been proof that He is not finished with us. Each morning, He has poured out encouragement, direction, and hope. And as Psalm 126 declares,
“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” That same God who has carried us through August is already ahead of us in September, preparing wisdom and guidance for the days to come.
As we step into a new month, my heart is filled with gratitude. Thank you for journeying with me through Morning Dew. And I invite you to join me tomorrow as we begin Wisdom September, a 30-day walk through the book of Proverbs. Each day will bring practical insights and life-giving wisdom, one proverb at a time.
Let’s close this chapter with faith: the past is behind us, and the new has begun.
Reflection Questions
1. What past weights or worries do I need to release today?
2. Where do I sense God asking me to trust Him for a new beginning?
3. How can I step into September with expectancy instead of hesitation?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for carrying us through August. Thank You for the lessons, the strength, and the joy You’ve poured out each morning. Today, we release the past into Your hands, and we choose not to dwell on what was. Please help us see the new thing you are doing and step into it with faith and courage, in Jesus' name, Amen.
