Flourishing Where You Are

ree

There’s something powerful about watching a tree in its season. At first glance, nothing seems to be happening. Months pass with no visible change. Yet underground, roots are spreading deeper, preparing for what’s to come. And then, almost suddenly, fruit appears.

Our lives in God often follow the same rhythm. Fruitfulness doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from staying planted, stretching our roots in His presence, and faithfully serving in the places He has set us.

The psalmist describes it beautifully in Psalm 92:12-14:

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.”

What a promise! To be fruitful and flourishing, even in old age. To keep producing, keep growing, and keep blessing others, not because of our strength, but because we are planted in Him.

The Blessing on What You Do

Psalm 1:3 says it plainly: “Whatever he does shall prosper.” Did you catch that? Whatever he does. Fruitfulness is not passive; it’s tied to action. God blesses the work of our hands. He multiplies the seeds we sow, but He asks us to put our gifts, talents, and ideas into motion first.

Sometimes we wait for a miracle to drop into our laps, but often God has already placed the miracle inside us, in the form of creativity, vision, and the ability to act. When we work with what He has given us, He breathes on it.

Your Gift Makes Room

Proverbs 18:16 reminds us: “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” The gift within you is not random. It’s a God-given seed designed to open doors in His timing. But gifts only make room when they are put to use. Hidden gifts, buried talents, or ignored callings never bear fruit.

When you serve with your gift, whether in your workplace, your community, your family, or in ministry, you create space for God to elevate you.

Serving Beyond the Church Walls

It’s easy to limit service to what happens within the church, but true service goes far beyond. You serve God when you bring integrity, excellence, and kindness to your workplace. You serve Him when your words encourage a colleague, when your creativity blesses your business, when your hands create solutions in your community.

Serving is not about a microphone or a title; it’s about blessing lives wherever God has placed you.

Flourishing in Due Season

So don’t despise the waiting. Please don’t dismiss the hidden seasons where it feels like nothing is happening. Just as the roots of a tree grow deep before fruit appears, God is working beneath the surface of your life.

Instead of waiting passively, ask God for fresh ideas. Ask Him for wisdom to see opportunities. Ask Him to breathe on the work of your hands. In due season, your fruit will come forth, and your life will flourish in ways that bless both you and those around you.

Prayer

Abba Father, thank You for planting me in Your presence. Teach me to flourish where I am and to serve faithfully in every place You’ve positioned me. Help me to recognise the gift You’ve put inside me and to use it well. Lord, bless the work of my hands and give me fresh ideas that honour You. May my life bear fruit in its season, bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
