The Power of Diligence
Proverbs 22:29 paints such a clear picture: skill and diligence elevate a person. Excellence is not about seeking recognition, but about living faithfully and responsibly with the gifts God has given us. When we apply discipline to our work, we position ourselves for opportunities that only God can orchestrate.
Scripture Reading:
“Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.” Proverbs 22:29
Elder Jibunoh reminded us today that mediocrity and excuses only lead to disappointment. But diligence, discipline, and integrity shape the DNA of success. True excellence is not a one-time act; it is built step by step, with perseverance, consistency, and character.
Why Discipline Matters
Discipline fuels perseverance. Perseverance builds resilience. And resilience shapes integrity. These qualities separate the ordinary from those who rise to places of influence. Proverbs 22:29 isn’t just about career success; it’s about how diligence in any area of life, family, ministry, or relationships sets us apart for greater service.
As Elder Jibunoh said, “You don’t climb a building by flying. You climb it step by step.” This is wisdom for our generation: shortcuts don’t last, but steady diligence builds a foundation that can carry the weight of responsibility.
Reflection Questions
1. Am I cultivating excellence in the work God has entrusted to me?
2. In what areas have I allowed procrastination or excuses to hold me back?
3. How can I daily commit my skills, discipline, and perseverance to God’s glory?
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for the gifts and opportunities You have entrusted to me. Teach me diligence, discipline, and perseverance. Help me to use my skills with integrity so that my life may glorify You. May I be found faithful and be positioned to serve where You have called me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
