Bold as a Lion | Wisdom September Day 28

Proverbs 28:1 says:
“The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
This verse paints such a powerful contrast. On one hand, the wicked live in constant fear, even when no one is chasing them. On the other hand, the righteous stand bold, confident in God’s protection.
It always makes me think of Cain. After killing his brother Abel, no one was chasing him, yet guilt became his pursuer. In Genesis 4:13, Cain cried, “My punishment is more than I can bear.” That is the weight of wickedness. Sin eats away at our peace. Even in secret, when no one else sees, God does, and guilt has a way of exposing itself sooner or later.
But then look at Daniel. He lived righteously before God. When thrown into the lions’ den, he didn’t panic or flee. He stood bold, and God shut the mouths of the lions. That is the boldness Proverbs speaks of, the strength that comes from righteousness, from knowing God is your defender.
So here are two paths:
• The way of Cain - chasing quick gains, dishonesty, or selfishness, only to live with regret and fear.
• The way of Daniel - walking in righteousness, clinging to God’s truth, and standing bold even in the face of danger.
For me, I’d rather hold my peace, let God fight my battles, and receive eternal reward than give in to my flesh and live in regret later.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that wickedness will always bring fear, but righteousness brings boldness. Give us the courage of Daniel. Guard us from the path of Cain. Clothe us with Your righteousness, and may our lives reflect Your peace and strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Takeaway Challenge
This week, pause and ask yourself: Am I living like Cain or Daniel?
Are guilt and hidden choices robbing you of peace? Or are you standing bold because you’re clothed in God’s righteousness?
Choose boldness. Choose righteousness. Choose peace in God.
