Anchored in Word and Wisdom

ree

Yesterday I witnessed something that shook me deeply. It was a moment that reminded me how fragile life is. Watching it unfold made me stop and reflect on the bigger questions of life. And yet, in the middle of that weight, I realised something beautiful: if my strength wasn’t anchored in Christ, even witnessing such moments would feel unbearable. But because of Him, I found peace, perspective, and the courage to keep pressing forward.

That moment also reminded me of the importance of the Word of God.

The Bible says in Hosea 4:6,

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Sometimes, it’s not that we haven’t heard Scripture, it’s that we haven’t understood how to apply it in our lives. Misunderstanding or misusing the Word can leave us vulnerable, but rightly applying it brings life and strength.

Psalm 119:105 gives us such a powerful picture:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” A lamp doesn’t show the whole road; it simply lights the next step. God gives us just enough light to keep moving forward. And for that next step, we need both faith and wisdom.

Faith and wisdom are not opposites; they are companions. God calls us to trust Him fully, but He also calls us to walk wisely.

That’s why Proverbs 4:7 says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”

So here’s my encouragement to you today: don’t just read the Word, invite the Author of the Word to speak to you through it. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and understanding, and He will guide your steps. Life will always have fragile moments, but when we are anchored in Christ, we are never without hope.
